'While I recognize the necessity for a basis of observed reality, true art lies in a reality that is felt.' Odilon Redon

Analogue Angelika's work from 2025 depicts a closed-eyed face in a yellow-green tone that is both unsettling and meditative. The portrait does not depict a specific person, but an icon of an inner state of mind: an archetype of sadness, isolation and introversion.

The unnatural colours - the contrast between the pale yellow-green skin and the dark background - evoke a sense of dissonance in the viewer, while the silence of the closed-eyed face creates an intimate, contemplative space. The simplistic, mask-like features give the representation a universal validity: the image is not only an imprint of the artist's personal experience, but also a visual symbol of a collective emotional state.

In this work, Angelika continues the painterly experiment in which the face is not a portrait but a psychological mirror. The painting thus fits into the international discourse of contemporary figurative painting, while retaining its distinctive introspective character.
