I’m Analóg Angelika, a Budapest-based painter and the founder of Start Gallery.
For years I have been making small disruptions in familiar images, situations and meanings — from public interventions and street art to painting.
I like to think of them as pebbles placed on the tracks of perception. Just enough to interrupt the automatic way we look at things, so for a moment we can notice the track itself.
My paintings often use fragmented viewpoints, visual contradictions, humour and shifts in perspective. I’m interested in that brief moment when something familiar becomes strange again, and the viewer becomes aware of how much of what they see belongs to the image, and how much they bring to it themselves.
This shop brings together original paintings, works on paper and selected editions from different periods of my practice. They may look very different from one another, but they all come from the same impulse: to create a small interruption in the ordinary flow of seeing.
